It was not until the early tang dynasty that the Mid-Autumn festival became a fixed festival. The "tang book of taizong" recorded "the Mid-Autumn festival of August 15". The popularity of the Mid-Autumn festival began in the song dynasty, and the Ming and qing dynasties became one of the main festivals in China. It is also the second most traditional festival in China after the Spring Festival.
According to the Chinese calendar, the lunar August falls in the middle of autumn, the second month of autumn, is called "zhong qiu", and August 15 is in "zhong qiu", so called "Mid-Autumn festival". There are many nicknames for the Mid-Autumn festival. Due to the 15th day of the eighth month, it is called "August" and "August half". The main activities of the Mid-Autumn festival are all around the "moon", so it is also known as the "moon festival". The moon is a happy Mid-Autumn festival, which symbolizes reunion and is therefore called "reunion day". During the tang dynasty, the Mid-Autumn festival was also called "normal month". The earliest records of the festival are in the Ming dynasty.

With rapid spreading of western cultures, there is a growing number of Chinese people prefer western holidays to traditional ones. When Christmas or Valentine Day comes, youngsters flood into bars, restaurants, or department stores to celebrate these festivals, while they know little about Chinese traditional festivals.
The reason behind such kind social phenomenon is obvious: in a society dominated by mass media and consumerism, festivals and holidays from abroad are labeled as fashionable, new and unique, while traditional ones are something out of date and old. Young people all over the world have regarded western life style especially the life depicted in Hollywood films as their ultimate goal of life. As a consequence it is no wonder that Chinese young people have much more passion on Christmas than China’s Spring Festival.
We should think about the influence of such a social phenomenon carefully. As far as I am concerned, it is obvious that the wide spread and recognition of western holidays is definitely doing harm to our traditional value. If we don’t take some measures right now, some day in future, Chinese cultural heritage may be alien to our offspring. It is high time for the government and all people to take some action to protect our traditional culture.

Since yesterday, I discussed with my father on how to make my mother happy over the holiday. I would first make a suggestion: "Give my mother to buy a new phone." Dad thought for a moment, said: "Mom bought a mobile phone , you can use, there is no need to change." Dad said: "We go out to buy some cosmetics." I am opposed to: "Mom's cosmetics are too much, many of which are not all useful."
My Father and I are anxious, and in the end what got her point? We simply asked her what she wanted. But my mother said: "I do not want to buy, I just want to sleep."
I do not know why my mother do this way, but I know my mother is very hard to control more than 300 college students, daytime talk, meetings, writing papers, fill out information and give students lessons, etc.
in the evening.
If it is me, I would like the mother, in addition to want to sleep, the other wants to do nothing.
However, I and Dad are determined to give my mother a "International Women's Day" gifts, things came back for her. Mother was shocked at my father bought a goggles and a pillow, then my mother smiled.

Last Qingming Festival,I return home to worship my grandfather.Qingming
Festival is a folk Festival. In the past,In the past, the Qingming Festival was called "Arbor Day". But Today, Chinese visit their family graves to tend to any underbrush that has grown. Weeds are pulled, and dirt swept away, and the family will set out offerings of food and spirit money. Unlike the sacrifices at a family's home altar, the offerings at the tomb usually consist of dry, bland food. One theory is that since any number of ghosts rome around a grave area, the less appealing food will be consumed by the ancestors, and not be plundered by strangers.
With the passing of time, this celebration of life became a day to the honor past ancestors. Following folk religion, the Chinese believed that the spirits of deceased ancestors looked after the family. Sacrifices of food and spirit money could keep them happy, and the family would prosper through good harvests and more children.
